Grinding and Plating with Select Fluid Power
In today’s blog post we are going to take a look at a recent plating project we completed for a unique customer. We are going to review the process behind the job and the strict requirements needed from our equipment to complete the job successfully.
In the picture above you will see one of our most recent grinding and plating projects in progress. Our cylindrical grinding capabilities make us a top choice when it comes to hydraulic equipment repair. We have 2 grinders with the ability to handle a swing of 25 1/8″ in OD and 26′ in length. We can achieve a tolerance of .000″ – .005″ for bearing fit. Select Fluid Power can grind rods, shafts, rotors, and hydraulic cylinder rods.
Grinding No Longer Just “Value-Added”
We’ve noticed over our years in the hydraulic cylinder repair sector that many of the plating projects had requirements before we could complete the job. The cylinders required grinding to repair and prepare the surface for plating. We have been continually adding to and increasing the performance of our grinding capabilities. This allows us to provide you with the same high-quality repairs time and time again. What was once a value-added service has grown into a standalone offering. Our precision and pricing rivals machine shops that specialize in only grinding. When you choose Select Fluid Power, not only are you getting a great grinding service, but you can have all your repairs completed under one roof.
As with all of our services, we provide high precision on large scale pieces. For OD grinding we can accommodate parts up to 25 1/8″ in diameter and 14′ in length. Both of our grinders can achieve tolerances as tight as ±.005”. Our equipment is at the heart of what we do—precise, high-quality repairs. Whether your parts are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nickel, or specialty alloys, we can help. Our team of skills machinists paired with our state-of-the-art equipment will provide quality and consistency.
